“For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body…”
Adult Confirmation in the Catholic Church is a sacrament that completes the initiation into the faith for those who were baptized as infants or children but haven’t received Confirmation. It involves a period of preparation, including education and reflection, culminating in the celebration of the sacrament.
Who is it for? Adults who are baptized Catholic, have received First Communion, but have not received Confirmation. Most Blessed Sacrament parish is offering a course in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation to be held Sunday, May 4, May 18, and June 1 from 4:00-5:15 p.m. in the Parish Center.
Candidates are asked to select Sponsor: A confirmed Catholic who serves as a guide and mentor during the preparation and at the Confirmation Mass.
Confirmation Name: In some dioceses, candidates choose a patron saint’s name to signify their spiritual identity.
In preparation for Confirmation Mass: Will be celebrated by the Bishop at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1725 Rhode Island Ave. NW, Washington DC on Sunday June 8, 2025.
What are the benefits? Confirmation increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit and strengthens a person’s bond with the Church. Confirmation equips individuals with the grace to bear witness to their faith and build up the Church.
