PARISH CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: Sunday, December 11th after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. The school’s K-2 Angel Choir will perform and cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
SPECIAL NEEDS: Did you know the holidays can be particularly difficult for children with Sensory Processing Needs? The website Understood.org has put together a fantastic calendar of ideas called 6 Weeks of Holiday Tips to Help Your Child with Sensory Processing Issues. ALTERNATIVE GIVING: “Gifts of Sharing” may be purchased through the Parish Catalogue (located in Church entrances and here on our website) in honor of a loved one. Order and receive a card specifying the requested charity you wish to sponsor. Michele Bowe, [email protected]
GIVING TREE: This drive collects gifts for over 700 needy children. Volunteers distribute stars at Masses or via online. Parishioners purchase gifts and deliver them ON TIME to the School Auditorium on Sat. Dec. 7 & Sun. Dec. 8. Consider, many children receive only this gift for Christmas. GREG GANNON CANNED FOOD DRIVE Sat. Dec. 3 : Following Saturday 8:00 am Mass, gather in the Church to receive a Blessing and Message from Fr. Magro “GGCFD” instructions. Not too late to volunteer, sign up www.ggcfd.org.
SHARE: Your generosity allows SHARE @ BS to help families, seniors, veterans, and organizations assisting homeless facing hard times celebrate with nutritious Christmas meals while retaining a sense of dignity. A Holiday Turkey Dinner is $36 for six persons. A Turkey plus Value Package of food is $40 and can extend a family’s basic food supply for five days. TOILETRY COLLECTION The parish Soup Kitchen operates in one of the most poverty stricken neighborhoods in the District. Through efforts and support of parishioners, kitchen guests are gifted warm winter socks filled with toiletries while enjoying a holiday meal. Parishioners and school families are asked to donate toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap and Chap Stick to church entrances or the school office, thank you. Deadline December 11.
