Spirit of Hope: 2025 Annual Appeal

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
 
Last year at this time I asked parishioners for a strong show of support for the 2024 Annual Appeal of the Archdiocese of Washington.  I set a challenge goal of $500,000 for Blessed Sacrament.  You blew past that to a total of $533,724, 113.8% beyond our parish goal of $469,000!   This is by far the largest contribution from any parish and once again demonstrates the generosity of this parish family that supports not only its own parish, but the needs of the greater local church and our neighbors.

Did you know that the parish receives a rebate of 50% of the amount collected over our goal?  

That means Blessed Sacrament received $32,362 this month (none of which will be used to support parish operations).  We will distribute to worthy causes and organizations that we support.
 
For this year’s Appeal I am asking that current contributors continue their exceptional support, but I’d really like to see our participation rate increase.   Last year I set a goal of 500 gifts from the parish.  We came in at 475 givers.  I am appealing to those who haven’t supported the Appeal recently to make a commitment this year.  No amount is too small.  Let’s exceed 500 givers this year!
 
I remind you that 100% of your gift to the Appeal is restricted to the ministries that are a part of the Appeal and cannot be used for any other purpose.   (The annual cost for outreach, gift and data processing, pledge reminders, gift acknowledgments, and other correspondence relating to the Appeal is seven (7) cents per dollar raised.   The archdiocese pays this cost from other revenue sources so that 100% of donations support the ministries of the Appeal).
 
The Appeal unites us with our brothers and sisters in Christ across the region in serving many charitable needs.  The Appeal extends and supports the outreach of our own parish ministries, as well as funds ministries that our parish could not sustain on our own.
 
Commitment weekend is February 22 & 23.  Please do pick up an Appeal brochure today and check out the many ministries and services you will be supporting and the many ways to give.  You will be helping many souls in need and helping to spread the Gospel across our Archdiocese.
