In-person Opportunities

As a health precaution for all in-person opportunities, volunteers who wish to continue helping may return for a shift once every two weeks.

Spanish Catholic Center Food Package Assembler and Distributer
Join Catholic Charities at their Spanish Catholic Center location in DC to assist with the weekly food distribution taking place every Wednesday. Volunteers who are screened and cleared will assemble grocery packages for pick up and distribute them as needed. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/3drMsaU

Sew Face Coverings
We are striving to serve our community and keep our staff and clients safe, by following guidelines from the CDC and local public health officials. Right now, we need your help by making sewn face coverings to protect our employees at community food distributions programs and homeless shelters. Write Letters and Poems to Support Our Staff
 We invite you to show your support for our front-line staff to help keep them motivated and make them feel appreciated while they put their health at risk to serve others. Pro Bono Attorneys  
If you are a barred attorney, become a volunteer for Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Service or Catholic Charities Legal Network. Immigration Legal Services (ILS) focuses on the provision of direct legal immigration services to foreign-born individuals and their families. ILS also focuses on training lawyers to provide pro bono services and educating community groups on the latest immigration issues. The CCLN provides legal services for civil cases on a wide range of issues including the following: child custody and visitation, consumer and bankruptcy cases, employment and discrimination cases, landlord-tenant and home foreclosure cases, public entitlement cases, wills, estate and advanced medical directives. Volunteers must be in good standing with the DC and/or MD Bar Association.   Get information and sign up here: http://bttr.im/udfxs  

Financial Stability Mentor Volunteer 
The Financial Stability Network (FSN) provides pro-bono financial services to those who otherwise would not have access to financial education and mentoring. FSN Mentors act as coaches to low to moderate income individuals, assisting them in achieving their financial goals. Volunteers will meet with clients once a month for 1-1.5 hour coaching sessions.   Get information and sign up here: http://bttr.im/3iwac  

Financial Stability Instructor Volunteer 
The Financial Stability Network provides pro-bono (Free) financial services to those who otherwise would not have access to financial education and mentoring. The mission of the Financial Stability Network is to assist low to moderate income families and individuals with increasing income and building assets. The Financial Stability Instructor will teach classes on a variety of personal financial topics including budgeting, savings, credit reports, credit cards and other financial topics to community organizations, transition housing groups and churches.
