In 2014, Blessed Sacrament joined Good Faith Communities Coalition, an alliance of faith-based agencies and faith communities advocating for affordable housing and other solutions to homelessness. Parishioners participate as members of a Washington DC parish, rather than as residents of a particular jurisdiction.
Started in 2010 in response to dramatic increases in homelessness and especially family homelessness, Good Faith Communities Coalition both educates and advocates from the point of view that the City budget is a moral document, reflecting our priorities and our care for less fortunate brothers and sisters. No one should be without adequate shelter and no one need be.
