Parish Listening Sessions
At the opening Mass for the 2023 Synod in the Archdiocese of Washington, Cardinal
Gregory asked us to open the doors of the Church and to open our hearts to the
interconnectedness we share as followers of Christ.
We began this process at Blessed Sacrament in late 2020 and carried through to the
spring of 2021 with a total of four sessions. The link below is a summary of what
members of the parish had to say in the original sessions. Every voice matters. All are
invited to participate in the upcoming round of sessions with our new pastor Fr. Gary,
who is very interested in continuing the process of cooperation and collaboration among all segments of the Blessed Sacrament community.
The conversation within these listening sessions revolves around a couple of questions
that invite people to think of the future of our parish. A wide selection of
parishioners will provide many insights, inspirations, and ideas about Blessed
Sacrament's future as we reset after the disruption of the pandemic. We are
approaching our 100th anniversary of our church building, which is a great time to reflect on the past and plan for the future.
The format includes an opening prayer, small group discussion, and a general
discussion about two questions: (i) What joys have we experienced at Blessed
Sacrament? and (ii) Where is the Holy Spirit leading us as we move forward? You can
