44 YEARS OF FAITH IN THE MARKETPLACE: INTERNATIONAL
PASTORAL SERVICE BY FR. MAGRO.
On Friday, June 2, after the 6:30 AM Mass, is the gathering of men and women parishioners to explore how others live and practice their faith in the marketplace. Our speaker is our Parochial Vicar Fr. Emanuel P. Magro who was ordained June 28, 1979 in his native Victoria, Malta, and then served as an Associate Pastor in the Archdiocese of Cologne, Germany, for five years and later at the Cathedral in Victoria. In 1986, he came to the United States of America and earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science and a PhD. in Catechesis/Religious Education at Catholic University, while residing and serving at Blessed Sacrament. After working at the Library of Congress for a few years, he returned to Malta in 2001 to head the Minor Seminary in Gozo and was appointed chaplain-in-charge for the English-Speaking Catholic Community. He subsequently became a full-time lecturer of Catechesis and Religious Education at the University of Malta and later assistant professor of Catechetics at The Catholic University of America. Fr. Magro returned to our parish in 2019, continuing his legacy of pastoral service and Faith in the Marketplace in our community. All are invited and urged to bring a friend, Friday, June 2, to the Duffy Center for a unique and insightful perspective of a priest whose vocation has borne fruit at home and abroad.
FYI – Fr. Magro is being reassigned to St. Peter’s Parish, Olney, MD, this summer . . . our June 2 meeting is a perfect opportunity for you to thank him for his service at Blessed Sacrament and to wish him well as he continues his pastoral service at St. Peter’s Parish.
