As a parish, we are all working together to protect each other from COVID. As pastor, I appreciate everyone’s efforts. I recognize how difficult the social distancing and other precautions are for each of you.
Though most parishioners are wearing face coverings appropriately, a reminder is warranted. To protect yourself and others, face coverings must be worn when entering the church. To be effective in preventing disease, they must cover both the mouth and the nose. Surgical and other masks provide more protection than a simple scarf. (Note that a clear face shield can be worn in addition to a mask, but it is not a substitute for a mask.) Properly wearing a mask is an act of charity towards your fellow parishioners, since it will help to protect yourself and others from disease.
